My name is Leslie Hamlin and I am a first grade teacher at Debary Elementary. I am also Teacher of the Year for the 2012-2013 school year--what a great and true honour! I have been teaching for 9 years. Of those 9 years, I taught 4th grade for a year and the rest of my teaching career has been in 1st grade. Teaching first graders is truly the best as I find that you see so much growth during this year. Teaching is actually a second career for me. I have a degree in Psychology from UF (Go Gators!!) and had initially gone to school to become a pediatric oncologist. I decided that I always wanted to be a teacher and the rest they say is history. I am married to a wonderful man, Brian, and we have been married for 8 years. Our 2 sons, Gabriel (6 years) and Aidan (4 years) are the loves of our lives and certainly keep us on our toes. I love to shop at Target and World Market. Some of my favorite things to do are to spend time with my family and friends, shop, and cook! My favorite T.V. show is the Golden Girls and I love to cook and read!

Please remind students that if they are getting breakfast from the cafeteria, they are to get breakfast BEFORE they come to class. Often times, they come to class early to play and when the bell rings, ask to go to breakfast and miss out on instuctional time. Thanks for your support. There are NO early release days for the month of May.
